the increase of the population, whatever the increase
may be, and the average number of persons per bouse
is certainly higher on account of the dearth of houses
and consequent overcrowding. The census of 1921
will enable us to correct our views regarding the increase
in the. number of inhabitants of the district.

The population at the Census of 1911 was 61,222, and was distributed in the wards as follows :

which is the difference between the number of births
and deaths, was 216.
