The health visitor is primarily concerned in dealing with personal aspects of health.
As the multitudinous problems coming to her notice increase, it is important to concentrate
the attention of the health visitor on the priority needs. Health teaching as an
instrument of preventive medicine is one of these and more effort must be directed to
health teaching although at present, because of limited personnel, this must be at the
expense of other aspects of her work.
A constant review and adjustment of the health visitor's activities is necessary, in an
endeavour to concentrate her efforts on the job for which she is trained. If health
education is to succeed the public must accept its teaching and try to apply it in practice.
This in the long run will reduce sickness in the population and will prove a saving of
time and money.
