Maternity Services continued
The Domiciliary Midwifery Service provided by midwives
other than those based on York House continues as in previous
years, but as the number of hospital deliveries increases, the work
of the midwives for the care of the mother and neo-natal infant
from discharge up to the fourteenth day has increased.
Premature Infants
All infants weighing 51/2-lbs. or less at birth are regarded as
premature infants, whatever the length of the pregnancy.
