Following information received, a District Sanitary
Inspector visited a butcher's shop and examined a
sheep's carcase. This was found to be in a fevered
condition, the pelvic cavity being inflamed and in a
septic condition. The carcase was seized and condemned.
A trader from outside this district was
summoned for depositing the carcase at the shop in
contravention of the Dagenham Urban District Council
Act, 1931. During the hearing of the case the defendant
admitted that the animal had been slaughtered because
it could not lamb. The Bench said that they took a
serious view of the matter and imposed a fine of £20 or
2 months' imprisonment.
