and holiday camps, four of which are established in the
northern part of the district during the summer months.
In fairness to those who frequent these camping sites it
should be stated that on no occasion has it been necessary
to take any action or even to make any complaint.
Hairdressers' and Barbers' Premises.
41 premises are registered in the district and
receive regular visits by the Sanitary Inspectors.
The register has been compiled under byelaws made
under Section 87 of the Essex County Council Act,
1933. No difficulty has been experienced with regard
to the administration of these byelaws.
Shops.
The Shops Act, 1934, came into operation on 30th
December of that year and Section 10 of the Act provides
for the provision and maintenance of suitable and
sufficient ventilation, sanitary conveniences, lighting,
washing facilities, facilities for taking meals and the
maintenance of a reasonable temperature. During the
year, 106 inspections were made and a total of 213
visits was paid. The following table shows the number
of notices served and complied with in respect of the
requirements of Section 10 which are administered by
my Department:—
