Supply of Milk to Schools.
The " Milk in Schools " scheme was in operation at the end
of the year. Eight samples of the milk supplied were purchased
for Bacterial analysis. Four of these were unsatisfactory, B. Coli
being present in 0.001 c.c.
The two dairy firms in question have now installed Pasteurizing
plants since the operation of which analyses of the various samples
have been satisfactory.

Milk Sampling.

Duringthe year139 samples of milk were analysed. Thefollowingtable shows the results of these analyses, divided intothose producedby small dealers in this and adjoining districtsand thosedistributed by the larger companies:—

With respect to the Bacteriological examination of milk a
steady improvement is noticeable when the results of previous
years are taken as a comparison as is illustrated by the following
details of the years 1929 and 1934 :—

(b) Meat and Other Foods.
Meat Inspection.
There are four slaughter-houses in the district, one licensed
and there registered. To these a total of 805 visits was paid
during the year. The carcases inspected numbered 2,437.
