All patients boarded out are carefully medically assessed
and only four required re¬admission to hospital during the year.
The ready availability of psychiatric help and advice, and the
close support available to the landladies through the Boarding
Out Officer are still vital parts of the scheme and may go some
way to explaining why no landlady has so far withdrawn her
services.
Boarding Out allowances paid to landladies by the Corporation
in 1963 totalled £1,143. 8. 0. and the average weekly cost
per patient (excluding the Boarding Out Officer's salary) was
£1. 4. 0.
