Other Infections:- Measles was not prevalent during the year and
five of the total of 12 cases admitted, occurred in December.
Complications were bronchitis - 2 cases, and one case each of
otitis media, tonsillitis, convulsions and ecchymosis.
Two of the three typhoid cases were definitely infected outside
the Croydon Area. The paratyphoid patients and admitted
contacts were all members of the same family.
Deaths:- Infectious diseases were only contributary causes in
the fatalities which occurred. Five deaths were due to chronic
lung and heart disease with cardiac failure, three were due to
cancer and two to cerebral haemorrhage.
