The Mental Welfare Officers paid 287 follow-up visits to
patients who had been discharged from hospital.
During the year 15 new cases were ascertained, compared with 22 in 1959, and the total number of cases on the authority's registers is now 841 made up as follows:-

10 cases were awaiting permanent hospital vacancies on 31st
December, 1960.
3,396 visits were paid by the Mental Welfare Officers and
the number of cases dealt with shows a slight decrease when compared
with the 1959 figure.
