endeavour is being made to immunize children before they enter
school. The very small incidence of Diphtheria in children of
school age seems to show this policy is a right one.

ST. CHRISTOPHER'S SPECIAL EDUCATIONALLY SUB-NORMAL
SCHOOL.
I am indebted to Mr. Ramsden, the Head Master, for the
following observations:—
This School is for Educationally Sub-normal Children and at the
present time has a roll of 200. During 1951, we hope to extend the
facilities to a further 40 children.
The year 1950 may be looked upon as one of definite progress. It
is very pleasing to be able to report that the teaching of Arithmetic has
made great strides during the past year. Many children are now
tackling problem Arithmetic in a very efficient manner.
We can, also, report with satisfaction that we have many fluent
readers, and many are borrowers from the public library. In this sphere,
we feel, is an opportunity for any well-wishers to assist in the provision
of a good library for each class, and any subscriptions would be gratefully
acknowledged by the Headmaster.
Great advance has been made by the higher grade boys in the craft
of book-binding under the tuition of Mr. Butler, and during The forthcoming
year of 1951 we hope to successfully bind a book.
The provision of cocoa on arrival, and the excellent hot midday
meals continue to be a very important factor in building up the
children's physical and mental condition, and many thanks are again due
to the Education Committee for their provision, and to our Cook and her
staff for the good cooking and excellent service.
During the year the School again visited Littlehampton, and a very
enjoyable day was spent by the sea.
In 1950 the School was re-furnished throughout with locker desks
obtained from the John Ruskin Grammar School.
The year 1950 was also memorable as we held our first Sports' Meeting.
The talent found encourages us to hope that very soon we shall be
able to compete in the Croydon School Sports Day with other schools
