I am indebted to the Head Teacher, Mr. L. Ramsden, for
the following report:—
The year 1945 has seen the end of the world conflagration
and we, together with the. rest of the educational world, are now
viewing our experiences of evacuation and schooling in air-raid
shelters as reminiscences.
The year commenced with 83 children on roll and ended with
114; a total increase of 31 children. The Intelligence Quotients
of the scholars range from 42 to 86.
Most of the children are unable to read, and in many cases
do not know the sound of the letters when thev first arrive, but,
j '
due to (he particularly individual attention, no educable child,
who stays until the school leaving age, leaves without acquiring
this most necessary knowledge. Several children have left us
during the year and returned to the ordinary" elementary school.
During the latter months Folk Dancing has been introduced
and it is proving very popular under the able tuition of Miss
Knight.
