Marriages.
The number of marriages solemnised was 2,268, compared
with 1,578 in 1944, 1,574 in 1943, 2,042 in 1942, 2,187 in 1941,
and 2,792 in 1940. The marriage rate was 11.3 per 1,000 of the
population 1,295 were solemnised in Established Churches, 321
in other places of worship, and 652 in the Register Office. None
was performed under Jewish ritual.
