The number of children immunized so far is much too small
to have any effect upon the incidence of Diphtheria in Croydon
as a whole. It has been calculated that at least 60 per cent, of
the population at risk should be immunised to exert an observable
influence upon diphtheria incidence.
No active propaganda has been undertaken. The facilities
have been brought to parents' notice at the Schools and Infant
Welfare Centres by means of leaflets and talks. No attempt has
been made to try and persuade parents. The facts have been put
before them and they have been left to make their own decisions.
The attitude has been that the service is available and any child
can be immunised if the parents desire it.

The following Table gives the numbers of children who have been referred for immunisation and the source of the reference:—
