During the year 403 samples of milk (401 new and 2 skimmed
0f separated) were taken. In 54 cases the samples were below the
standard suggested by the Board of Agriculture.
Proceedings were instituted in respect of 1 7 of these samples, and
fines and costs were imposed on the vendors to the extent of
£175 13s. 6d. The other 37 samples were only slightly below the
standard suggested by the Board of Agriculture.
In 16 cases the vendors were written to asking for an explanation,
and in all cases subsequent samples were taken
No samples of cream were submitted for analysis during the
year.
One sample of butter was taken during the year. This proved
to be genuine.
Ten other samples were taken, and they proved genuine.
