MAINTENANCE OF LIVE-STOCK ACT AND ORDER,
1915.
The provisions of this Order since the date of coming into
operation have been administered from the Public Health Department.
The Order has on the whole offered no particular difficulty.
In one or two instances animals in-calf or in-pig have been
slaughtered, but in each case the condition was definitely not obvious.
The restriction on the slaughter of calves in the earlier days of
the operation of the Order gave rise to some difficulty in relation to
branding. This obviously arose through the neglect of the auctioneer
at the sales, and after a short time the provisions of the Order became
apparently more thoroughly known, and the work has since then proceeded
quite smoothly.
