The following is a summary of the work done under this Act in
Croydon during 1915.
FACTORIES.
For the most part, the law relating to Factories is administered by
the Home Office. 181 visits were, however, made to Factories, 101
being in reference to sanitary accommodation, 28 in reference to
cleanliness of earth closets, 15 in reference to new occupation, 4 in
reference to alleged smoke nuisance, 4 in reference to extra sanitary
accommodation at a munition factory, 7 in reference to extra sanitary
accommodation at a potted meat factory, 7 in reference to intervening
ventilated space at a sign writer's, 5 in reference to screening of W.C's.
at two munition factories, 2 in reference to screening of W.C's. at a
steam laundry, 2 in reference to sanitary conditions of mess room at
steam laundry, 5 in reference to extra sanitary accommodation at a
steam laundry, 3 in reference to extra sanitary accommodation at a
dairy, and 5 in reference to intervening ventilated space at a steam
laundry.
WORKSHOPS.
The number of workshops on the register is 728; the number of
visits paid by the Inspector is 1408.
