ACCOMMODATION
Continuous efforts have been made to find suitable accommodation
for defectives for whom Institutional care was considered advisable
but these efforts have met with little success owing to the Institutions
certified by the Board of Control being full or allocated for other
classes of defectives or for defectives from particular areas.
VOLUNTARY ASSOCIATION.
During the year the Statutory Committee have had under consideration
the formation of a Voluntary Association, the object of such an
Association being to render assistance to the Local Authori y in connection
with the care, control, treatment, or education of defectives to
the extent desited by such Authority, In May last the Committee
appointed a Sub-Committee, with the Town Clerk and Medical
Officer, to interview the Board of Control upon this and other
matters in connection with the administration of the Act, and as a
result of that interview the Committee decided, in view of existing
War conditions, to defer taking any formal steps in the matter for the
present. The Council, on the recommendation of the Committee,
have since agreed to the formation of a temporary Voluntary Committee
which should be of material assistance to the Committee in
carrying out their duties.
FINANCE.
In Appendix II will be found the financial statement for the year
ending the 31st March, 1916, in accordance with the Provisional
Regulations of the Secretary of State for the Home Department.
