For those who wish simply to rest in pleasant surroundings,
there is a wealth of lovely parks and gardens, three of which contain
aviaries, whilst the provision, during the year, of playground equipment
at Riverside Road, brings the total number of parks with this
facility to 10. In three of these, Games Wardens are employed and
continue to be very popular.
The main constructional works carried out during the year,
centred on the clearing of undergrowth, levelling and seeding of the
woodland area at Hoblingwell Wood, and the completion of the
Pavilion at Mottingham Sports Ground. On a smaller scale the
planting of roses at the Crescent, Main Road, Sidcup, and The
Oval, Blackfen, has been completed.
