Family Help Service.
This service is provided to deal with the care of children in
their own homes when they are temporarily deprived of the care of
their mother or a female guardian.
Twenty-five cases were assisted during the year.
Evening and Night Attendant Service.
This service is for old people in their own homes, and
arrangements include evening service and preparation for sleep,
preparation of meals, attention to fires and night service. 27 cases
received assistance in 1959.
Child Help Service.
Assistance under this scheme was given to 3 families in the
area during 1959.
Domiciliary Midwifery.
Eight full-time midwives are employed in the area. Patients
may obtain their services on direct application, or through their
private doctor.
Health Visiting.
Twelve Health Visitors and School Nurses and three
Tuberculosis Health Visitors are employed in the Urban District.
District Nursing Service.
Thirteen District Nurses work in the area. This service is
provided on medical certification only and is free. No night service
is in operation.
