It is intended to open an Orthopaedic clinic during the early
part of 1959.
A Control of Infection Committee was set up at the hospital
during the year on which the Medical Officer of Health is
represented.
A number of the voluntary organisations in the area including
the British Red Cross Society and the Women's Voluntary Service,
include work at hospital in their service. Especial mention should
be made of the very active body, "Friends of Queen Mary's
Hospital" which provides amenities and which greatly assists
patients during their stay.
All will be pleased to know of the decision to reconstruct the
hospital commencing in 1960.
Sidcup Cottage Hospital.
A General Practitioner hospital with 11 Medical, 1 Section 4
and 1 Section 5 beds. A Physical Medicine clinic is held once each
week.
The above hospitals are within the area of the Sidcup Hospital
Management Committee of the South-East London Region.
Grove Park Hospital.
The boundary of the Urban District cuts through this hospital.
5 blocks and part of a sixth lie in Mottingham. 233 of the beds
concerned are used for tuberculous patients, whilst the remaining
32 are reserved for non-tuberculous thoracic patients. All 265
beds are fully used.
This hospital comes within the area of the Lewisham Group
of the South-East London Region.
Venereal Diseases.
Patients are referred to the various hospitals with specialist
clinics for dealing with these diseases. None of these clinics is
situate within the Urban District.
COUNTY COUNCIL SERVICES.
Ambulance Service.
The district is served by the ambulance depot at Bromley,
where at the present time, there are twenty-nine ambulances and
twenty sitting case cars available for use. The majority of these
vehicles are radio controlled. There is also a sub-depot at Main
Road, Sidcup.
