The figure of 90 lettings includes 28 transfers which have been
effected from various types of Council controlled property.
During the year 13 families have been admitted to the Halfway
Houses.

With reference to Item No. 3 it will be noted that a number
of properties have been released from requisition during the year.
MOVEABLE DWELLINGS.
A far as possible strict control is exercised over the stationing
of tents, vans and sheds used as dwellings, in the area. Powers
are given in Sections 268 and 269 of the Public Health Act 1936,
and under Town Planning legislation. In this connection, close
liaison is maintained with the Engineer and Surveyor.
A number of unlicensed dwellings have been using the grass
verges on the Maidstone Road and spare land adjacent to it.
The owners in conjunction with the police have taken steps to
deal with trespassers, where private land is concerned. These sites
are invariably left in a dirty condition.
