AMBULANCE SERVICE.
The General Purposes Ambulance Service is administered
by the Council.
Accident, maternity and private cases are all dealt with.
The vehicles attached to the Service are one first-line
ambulance, one second-line ambulance and one motor-car
for sitting cases. The staff consists of one part-time
officer-in-charge and six whole-time drivers and attendants
(attached for this purpose to the Public Health Department)
. The vehicles are manned at night by volunteers from
the local Detachments of the British Red Cross Society and
the St. John Ambulance Brigade.
During the year the ambulance was used as follows:—
