DIPHTHERIA.
An increase in the number of cases of Diphtheria notified
took place, viz. 76 as compared with 55 last year.
Seventy-one cases were removed to the Isolation Hospital.
Three deaths were registered.
The age incidence was:
0-5 | 5-10 | 10-15 | 15-20 | 20 and over |
24 | 38 | 5 | 4 | 3 |
The Council has made arrangements, free of charge, for the
examination of swabs from cases, or suspected cases of
Diphtheria, and during the year 524 such examinations have
been made.
A Clinic has been established by the Council for the immunisation
of children against Diphtheria. Particidars of this
will be found on another page.
TYPHOID LEVER.
Five eases of Typhoid Fever were notified, as compared
with 7 last year.
Two cases were removed to hospital.
No deaths were registered from this complaint during the
year.
ERYSIPELAS.
Fifteen cases were notified, as compared with 14 last year.
PUERPERAL PYREXIA.
Fourteen cases of Puerperal Pyrexia were notified.
OPHTHALMIA NEONATORUM.
Two cases were notified, this being the same number as
last year.
ACUTE POLIOMYELITIS.
One case was notified as against 4 last year.
PNEUMONIA.
During the year 33 cases of Pneumonia were notified, this
being 16 less than last year.
The number of deaths registered as occurring from
Pneumonia (all forms) was 31.
