To the CHAIRMAN and MEMBERS of the
CHISLEHURST URBAN DISTRICT COUNCIL.
GENTLEMEN,
I beg to present to you my Annual Report for the year ended
December, 1915.
Visits.—The number of visits and re-visits made to premises has been
6,123, and 169 nuisances have been discovered, but this latter number does
not include the nuisances which have been discovered under the Housing
(Inspection of District) Regulations, with respect to which a special report
is appended.
Complaints.—There were 9 complaints received during the year,
being a decrease of 5 over the number received during the year 1914, Of
these, two related to accumulations of offensive matter, one to an offensive
smell near a large residence, one to an overflowing cesspool, one to stables
in an unclean condition, one to a dog kept in an unclean condition, one to
defective drainage appurtenances, and two to the emission of smoke.
All nuisances complained of were investigated, and where just grounds
for complaint were found matters were rectified.
Notifiable Infectious Diseases.—The number of Notifications
received and dealt with during the year under the Infectious Disease
(Notification) Acts, 1889-1899, was 46, being an increase of 7 over last
year. The cases notified were:—
Scarlet Fever 20
Diphtheria 14
Erysipelas 10
Typhoid Fever 2

Thirty of these cases occurred in Upper Chislehurst, and 16 in Lower
Chislehurst, as follows:—
