in needy circumstances.
Disinfection. Thirty-six premises, consisting of 58 rooms,
were sprayed and fumigated during the year, and the owners and
occupiers readily assisted by cleansing the rooms, &c., as soon after
disinfection as possible.
The fumigation was carried out by means of Formalin Fumigators,
the clothing &c., being disinfected in a solution of Izal.
The walls and bedding were sprayed with an Equifex Spray
Pump, the solution used being Formic Aldehyde as a 2 per cent,
solution.
Drainage. The drainage of 5 premises was examined and
tested during the year.
Three of these were found in a bad condition and were entirely
re-constructed, one was repaired, and at the remaining premises
the drains were found to be in good condition.
Ash-pits. Sixty-four premises were provided with properly
covered movable receptacles for house refuse during the year.
There are still a few brick ash-pits in use in the District, but
as these become defective they are replaced with proper galvanized
receptacles.
Houses unfit for Human Habitation. See special report on
Housing (Inspection of District) Regulations.
Temporary Shelters. The Temporary Shelters for Fruit
Pickers have been regularly inspected during the year, and the
usual cleansing and lime-washing in respect of all the occupied
shelters have been carried out.
Slaughter-houses. The occupied Slaughter-houses in the District
have been regularly inspected, and the quarterly lime-washing
carried out in accordance with the Regulations.
One Slaughter-house in the Lower District became vacant
during the year, and there are therefore now two premises unoccupied
: one in Upper Chislehurst and one in Lower Chislehurst.
Dairies, Cowsheds and Milkshops. These premises have been
regularly inspected and have been kept in good condition, and the
lime-washing of the Cowsheds has been carried out.
