PUBLIC HEALTH (MEAT) REGULATIONS, 1924.
These Regulations came into force on the 1st April, 1925.
The duty of carying out the provisions of this Order was
met by the Council, after full consideration, by the appointment
of a third Sanitary Inspector, holding the Meat Certificate,
whose main duty consisted in inspecting animals killed
for human consumption, and otherwise supervising and
enforcing the due observance of the provisions of the Order.
The Council applied to the Ministry of Health and obtained
.their permission to Meat Marking.
During the period from the 2nd June until the 31st
December, 1925, the following number of animals were killed
for human food in the Slaughterhouses in the District:—

In all, 6,295 pounds of meat were found unfit for human
consumption. This comprised:—

Veal on account of Tuberculosis 80 „

Pork on account of Tuberculosis 1245 „
Pork for other causes 225 „
