The treatment of the Secondary Schools was carried out by
the Dental Surgeon of the Kent Education Committee at the Town
Hall Clinic each Wednesday.
My thanks are due to Dr. Gordon Lyle, and Dr. Sheila Thomson
for the administrations of anaesthetics, to Miss Bradford, the Dental
Attendant, and to the Head Teachers for their support during the
year.
I cannot end the report without reference to the flying-bomb
attack. During that period, approximately from June 19th to
September 15th, routine dental treatment was impossible, in fact
during the whole of that time, only 45 attendances were made.
When the evacuation of elementary and secondary school
children, an"d of mothers with young children, was decided upon,
having obtained Dr. Cole's approval, I offered my services to
Mr. Scarr, the Divisional Dispersals Officer. In short, the routine
arrangements locally, for the evacuation, devolved upon me.
I would like to express my appreciation of Miss Bradford's help
at this period. She undertook all the typing, preparation of daily
lists of those to be evacuated and the completed list necessary for
the Kent County Council for the recovery of billeting charges.
