in the milk trade from continuing his employment.
PUBLIC HEALTH ACT, 1936 (SECTION 169).
It has not been necessary to apply for an Order under this
Section for the removal of a patient to hospital.
WHOOPING COUGH.
104 cases were notified during the year, 51 having a private
doctor in attendance, and 7 cases were under five years of age.
MEASLES.
Measles is not normally a notifiable disease in the district, but
medical practitioners are paid a fee for notifying cases among
children attending the elementary schools. From the 1st November,
1939, the disease became notifiable.
25 cases were notified to the Health Department during the
year, 5 under five years of age, 13 had a private doctor in attendance.
CHICKENPOX.
70 cases were notified, 27 being by doctors; no cases were
under the age of five years.
MUMPS.
8 cases of Mumps were brought to the notice of the Department
during the year, 2 being notified by doctors; none were under
the age of five years.
EPIDEMIC DIARRHOEA.
This disease becomes notifiable annually during the period
15th July to 15th October. No cases were notified.
SMALLPOX.
No cases were notified during the year.
The Public Vaccinator dealt with 594 cases during the year,
and 558 of these were infants under one year of age.
