The following report on the extent of the treatment provided by
the Authority was submitted to the Elementary Education SubCommittee,
and as a result of their enquiries the Education Committee
prepared a Scale of Charges, given below, which have been
forwarded to the Board of Education for approval.

Elementary Education Sub-Committee.
Sir,
I have to make the following report on the Board's letter of
the 31st October, 1922, relating to the recovery from parents
of the cost of treatment.
It will be necessary to define briefly the forms of treatment
that have been provided by the Education Committee, to state
the annual cost of these, and to indicate any arrangements
that are in force for the recovery of a portion, or all, of the
cost from the parents.
Treatment may be considered under the following five
headings : —
1. Operations for the Removal of Tonsils and Adenoids.
These are carried out at the Cottage Hospital, and the cost
to the Education Committee is One and a Half Guineas per
operation, which includes a fee of half a guinea to the operator,
half a guinea to the ansethetist, and half a guinea to the hospital.
The parents make no contribution towards the cost. In
1921 there were 27 operations, at a cost of £31 8s. 6d. In 1922
to date, there have been 25 operations, at a cost of £39 7s. 6d.
2. X-Ray Treatment of Ringworm of the Scalp.
This treatment is done by the London Hospital at the rate
of two and a half guineas per case.
