POPULATION.
The Population of Beckenham at the Census in April, 1911, was
31,693, and at the previous Census in 1901, was 26,331.
The figures for the 1921 Census are not yet available. The
Registrar-General estimates the population for 1920 to be 33,812.
According to figures obtained from the Food Control Office, there
were in October, 1919, Ration Cards for 32,745 persons in the District.
If we take the total number of occupied houses on the Rate
Books in 1920 and multiply by the average number of persons per
house as ascertained at the 1911 Census, we obtain by this method
a population of 35,194.
