As I have pointed out many times, there is no obligation on
butchers and others to notify when killing is proposed to take
place, so that the public may be safeguarded as to the condition of
animals killed. The bye-laws have respect to the premises only.
Knacker's Yard, Creeksmouth.—I have received complaints
as to smells arising from these premises. Other and
absolutely up-to-date premises close at hard are in course of
erection, when the nuisances complained of will cease as all the
work hitherto carried on in the premises complained of will be
transferred to the new erection.
Offensive Trade.
Several manufactories of this description have been established
during the year where fat extracting and blood drying are carried
on. A good deal of nuisance has arisen from one factory but new
plant is now in course of erection which will effectively stop all
complaint.
Other nuisances, arising from offensive smells in the course of
various manufactures have been successfully dealt with during the
year.
Bye-Laws with regard to these trades are now in force.
Rivers and Streams.
Neither the Roding River nor the Loxford water have been
the cause of much complaint during the year.
