Bakehouses.
There are now 18 bakehouses registered in the district.
These have been kept under observation during the year and
the regulations adopted by the Council under the Factory and
Workshop Acts enforced.
These regulations relate to:—
a. Overcrowding (amount of cubic space per head
required.)
b. Ventilation.
c. Light (in several instances the amount of light
is not satisfactory.)
d. Communication with bedroom.
e. Communication with w.o., ashpit, or privy.
t. Cleanliness and whitewashing.
g. Drain openings.
h. Water supply.
There are no underground bakehouses in the district.
Slaughter Houses.
Only one registered slaughter house now remains. This is
kept in very fair condition and all the requirement of the bye-laws
are complied with.
There are two licensed houses both of which are kept in
excellent order.
