The Tuberculosis Officer advises me that any
increase in the incidence of tuberculosis in Barking
during the year 1943 as compared with the preceding
year does not appear to be significant.
There was no increase in the availability of methods
of diagnosis in the area but there appeared to be
increased use by medical practitioners of the services
available for diagnosis.
(7) SCARLET FEVER.
Three hundred and ninety-eight notifications of
scarlet fever were received, the number for 1942 being
334. This shows a slight increase, but the type of
infection was not severe.
