Legal Proceedings in Connection with Nuisances.

The number of summonses issued during the year was 2. The particulars are as follows:—

64, Seymour Place, W.Failure to comply with statutory notices to re-drain the premises and provide proper light and ventilation to the ground floor closet at 64, Seymour PlaceM.M.Act,1855 P.H. (L.) Premises vacated and handed over to Port man Estate, the lease having been surrendered. Costs £8 5s.

In one case, the Owner of 45, Church Street, lodged an appeal to the London
County Council againt a Statutory Notice served upon him to redrain the premises.
The Appeal was heard at the County Hall, Spring Gardens, on the 29th April, 1915,
and was dismissed. The premises were subsequently redrained.
Black Smoke Nuisances.—The total number of observations of chimneys
made by the inspectors was 1,072, and 8 nuisances were discovered. In each case
in which a nuisance had been detected, the owner was communicated with and any
explanation he had to offer was considered by the Committee along with the reports
of the inspector.
