House-to-House Inspection. For a number of reasons, amongst them the
re-arrangement of work necessitated by enlistment of members of the staff, fewer
house-to-house inspections were made than in previous years.

The following table contains information with regard to the inspections carried out.

Houses Let in Lodgings. At the end of 1915 the total number of houses on
the register was 1,169.
All of these were systematically inspected, and in all 3,033 visits were paid;
1,169 notices relating to cleansing and other defects were served, the majority were
complied with, but in 59 cases statutory notices were issued and the necessary works
executed without the necessity for further proceedings arising.

Common Lodging Houses.The following table contains all the essential information with regard to these. A number of visits were paid from time to time to the premises by the District Inspectors.
