The arrangements made by the London County Council, for providing treatment
for children and others, on the whole worked very smoothly in the Borough, and
little or no difficulty was experienced in obtaining the information required in
connection with the removal of the patients.
Deaths from Phthisis. The table given below shows the number of deaths
certified as due to consumption, and compares the figure for 1915 (135) with those
of preceding years.
The death rate for the year was 1.3 per 1,000, the same as in 1914.

The distribution of the deaths was as follows: in Poor Law Institutions, 79;
general and other hospitals, 23; at home, 33. The age and sex distribution of the
deaths is shown in the table following. Of those who died 34 were insured and 61
uninsured.
