BACTERIOLOGICAL EXAMINATIONS.
The number of specimens from doubtful cases of typhoid fever, diphtheria
and phthisis examined for the Council by Dr. Eastes at the Laboratory of Pathology
and Public Health, 38, New Cavendish Street, is greater by over 100 than in 1910.
The increase is almost entirely, as shown in the following table which gives
particulars as to the number of cases examined, and compares the results with those of
the previous year, in connection with phthisis.
For the increase in the numbers in this disease the greater attention directed to the importance of diagnosis by the new regulations is probably responsible.
