The table headed " Reasons for Disinfection" gives the number of rooms
disinfected and the reasons for doing so.
In 1910, the number of rooms disinfected was 583 and of articles 9,675.
The great increase in the number of disinfections, both of rooms and articles, is
due mainly to the fact that a greater number of scarlet fever cases were notified during
1911 than in either 1909 or 1910, and that owing to the introduction of the new
regulations with regard to the notification of consumption more cases of this disease
were made known to the department.
