Special Baths for School Children.
From January 1st to December 20th, 1906, Boys 1,873, Girls
3,811, Totals 5,184.
The New Baths were opened on the 31st of May. I am
enabled to have the work more promptly done, having now
3 baths for men, 3 for women, 5 for children.
The attendants under my charge, 1 have found most
satisfactory in every way.

FACTORIES AND WORKSHOPS AND NUISANCES
FROM SMOKE, etc.
The following reports deal with the special duties allotted
to two inspectors. The reports speak for themselves and give a
connected summary of work done under the Factory and Workshop
Acts, the abatement of smoke, and the general management
of the Public Conveniences:—

To the Medical Officer of Health.
Sir,
I beg to submit the following report of work for the year
ending 1906:—
Factories and Workshops.
There are in the Borough 171 registered workshops which
are occupied exclusively by men. The principal trades engaged
in are tailoring and outfitting. These workshops have been
regularly inspected, and, where necessary, cleansing has been
done and insanitary conditions remedied; and all new workrooms
have been cubed up and registered in accordance with the
Factory and Workshop Act, 1901.
Bakehouses.
There are at present 82 Bakehouses in use; of this number
eight are on the ground level and 74 are underground. During
the year one Bakehouse underground has been demolished and
one Bakehouse on ground level has been turned into use as a
laundry.
Smoke Nuisances
The number of smoke nuisances detected or complained of
during the year is 22. All complaints received have been dili-
