THE SALE OF FOOD AND DRUGS ACTS.
The work done under the Sale of Food and Drugs Acts is
tabulated at page 25. Notwithstanding the change of districts
from time to time and the constant employment of agents who
cannot be known to the vendors, the figures for adulteration
still continue at a low figure.

The following is a list of the proceedings taken and the fines recovered:—

In the case of a diluted whisky, alcoholic strength 30 degrees
under proof, the solicitor considered that, owing to technical
objections, proceedings could not be taken successfully.
In the case of an adulterated milk, no summons was issued
because the dilution was small.
In another case of adulteration of milk, the case was dismissed,
because the defendant proved a warranty from the farmer.
