CLERICAL WORK OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH
DEPARTMENT.
Mr. H E. Curtis and Mr. W. J. Howe continue to discharge
the duties .of Chief Clerk and Assistant Clerk in a most efficient
manner. The Junior Clerk, Mr. Hodges, has improved his
financial position by being transferred to the electricity department,
and a successor has been appointed, Mr. H. A. James.
The subjoined tabular statement of the work shows no signs
of decrease, but, on the contrary, some slight augmentation.
During the year the complete list of Index of Drainage Plans
and Applications in the custody of the Department has at length
been completed, and is being found daily both by the public and
by the Department of the greatest use.

DISINFECTION.
Owing to the fact that infectious fevers were but little
prevalent during the year, the amount of disinfection was generally
less during 1904 than 1903.
The disinfecting machine still continues in good order, a few
minor repairs only having been necessary during the year.
The boiler is regularly inspected by an officer of the
Insurance Company, and his report presented to the Public
Health Committee.
