THE SHELTER.
The Shelter, Grove Road, is practically a private house.
It was, indeed, once the residence of the Surveyor, and has
been plainly but comfortably furnished for the temporary
housing of persons displaced from one or two roomed
tenements during the operation of disinfection.

Hence the number of times it is used varies according to the greater or less prevalence of infectious disease. 1903 was a year in which there was no considerable amount of notifiable maladies, hence it was only used 20 times, accommodating for various periods 15 adults and 15 children.

* The man was having one of the free baths when he was taken faint and received
into the Shelter until he was able to be moved elsewhere.

DISINFECTION.

Owing to the moderate amount of infectious disease during 1903, disinfectant operations show a considerable decrease to that of 1902, as shown by the following comparative table:—
