now constituted, the cleansing baths cons1st of 2 baths for
males, and 2 baths for females. The water is heated by steam
at a high temperature supplied by a Cornish boiler. The clothes,
while the bathers are in the baths, are disinfected by a hot air
apparatus.
During 1903, as the following return compiled by Miss
Kilgallin shows, no less than 6,170 separate baths were given.
In a good proportion of cases, the bathers are found to be
suffering from contagious skin diseases, and to be in a most
offensive state generally. The disinfection of the clothing
and bathing, not only is a protection to the public, but a
great source of relief to the sufferers themselves.
