Births and Deaths.
During the four weeks ending February 22nd there have been registered
232 births and 280 deaths. These births and deaths are divided among
the five sub-districts as set forth in Table IV. Ninety-three of the deaths
were extra-parochial as follows :—

The birth and death-rates, as deduced from the month's statistics, are
as follows :—
All Souls, birth-rate 16.5 ; death-rate 18.0.
Rectory, birth-rate 29.3 ; death-rate 38.6.
St. Mary, birth-rate 19.4; death-rate 29.4.
Christ Church, birth-rate 31.9 ; death-rate 31.6.
St. John, birth-rate 21.0; death-rate 22.0.
The whole district, birth-rate 22.6; death-rate 27.3.
The average death-rates for five years (1896 to 1901) for the corresponding
period were as follows :—All Souls, 19.9 ; Rectory, 28.3 ; St. Mary, 23.9 ;
Christ Church, 21.2; St. John, 2.0; the whole district, 22.4.
