COW-HOUSES AND SLAUGHTER-HOUSES.
These are in much the same condition as in 1865, and need no special
notice.
SANITARY AND MISCELLANEA.
The Reports of the three Sanitary Inspectors, Mr. Christie, Mr. J. W.
Burrows, and Mr. "W. "W. Burrows, give the following results:—
" 8,929 houses have been inspected, and 3,165 notices served upon owners, requiring
them to make sanitary improvements.
" 20,704 visits have been made to ascertain that the work was progressing satifactorily.
In 206 cases, owners were summoned before the Magistrate at the Police Court for neglect
to comply with the requirements of the noticcs served upon them. 2,696 houses have
