Here sentiment is preserved, but in a very different manner ; decay, so often visibly suggested
by the grave, being replaced by a veritable garden for quiet contemplation.
Some thought has been given to this subject by the British Undertakers' Association,
who believe that funeral directors need a better knowledge of the sanitary care of the dead
than they appear to possess at present, and an educational campaign has been started with
this object in view.
It is, of course, impossible that the general public can approach this subject in a detached
frame of mind, but the systematic attempts to remove what appears to be an inherent
objection to cremation as a proper, rapid, decent and sanitary course of arriving at the
disintegration of the mortal remains of man, should do much to increase the acceptance of
this method of disposal.
