BACTERIOLOGICAL AND CHEMICAL EXAMINATIONS OF MILK.
SAMPLES COLLECTED AT RAILWAY STATIONS.
In accordance with the practice which was instituted many years ago, a further series
of milk samples arriving in the City from country districts was obtained at Liverpool Street
Station during the months of September and October last.
The samples were sent to Sir Frederick Andrewes, K.B.E., the City Bacteriologist,
for bacteriological examination and investigation as to the presence of dirt, and a duplicate
of each sample was also submitted to Mr. E. A. Pinchin, B.Sc., the Public Analyst, for chemical
examination.
Special care was exercised in the collection of the 48 samples which were sent from different
farms in the following counties:—
Suffolk 15
Norfolk 22
Essex 3
Cambridgeshire 2
Buckinghamshire 1
Montgomeryshire 1
Shropshire 4
