The remains discovered represented probably 150-200 bodies, but they did not present
any indication of orderly interment, and if the site was used for burials in the customary
reverent manner the remains must since have been disturbed. The Port of London Authority,
desirous of affording decent re-burial in consecrated ground, purchased a grave in the City
of London Cemetery at Ilford, to which the remains were transferred, with due regard to
reverence, on the 18th October, 1928.
EXHUMATION AND REINTERMENT OF BODIES.
City of London Cemetery.—During the year the bodies of five persons buried at the City
of London Cemetery at Ilford have been exhumed and subsequently re-interred in the same
Cemetery. In accordance with the terms of the licences issued by the Home Secretary in
respect of these cases, the work of removal and re-interment was carried out in the early
morning under the supervision of your Medical Officer of Health.
FACTORY AND WORKSHOP ACT, 1901, &.c.
Factories, Workshops and Workplaces.—The premises upon the Register number 3,822,
in which are included 8,269 workrooms, &c.
There were served 1,879 notices during the year for various purposes under the Acts.
