PUBLIC HEALTH (MILK AND CREAM) REGULATIONS, 1912 & 1917.
During 1924, 244 samples of Milk were examined under these Regulations, and
all were found to be free from preservative.
Twelve samples of Cream (not preserved) were purchased, two of which were
certified to contain Boric Acid, though not in excess of the amount permitted by
the Regulations for Preserved Cream. Of these two samples, one was an informal
sample and one a formal sample, purchased from the same vendor. There were no
legal proceedings. The vendor was cautioned.
Ten samples of Preserved Cream were obtained and found to comply with the
Regulations as to labelling and the amount of preservative permitted.
In no instance did the fat content of Preserved Cream fall below 35 per cent.
No contravention of the other requirements relating to Preserved Cream were
found.
