ANNUAL RATEABLE VALUE.
The rateable value of property within the administrative county of London
was £43,897,571 on 6th April, 1907—whilst on the same date the
corresponding rateable value of property in the City of London, including
Temples, was £5,373,276, or nearly one-eighth of the whole County.
POPULATION.
The undermentioned figures are abstracted from the Registrar-General's
Report, dated 30th December, 1901, on the Census of England and Wales,
1901 (County of London).
| Area. Statute Acres. | Inhabited Houses. | Population. | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1891. | 1901. | 1891. | 1901. | ||
For Registration, Parliamentary and Municipal purposes the boundaries
of the City are co-terminous.
These figures represent the population on the night of the 1st April, 1891
and 1901, exclusive of sub-district of Glasshouse Yard (see note on next
page).
A Day Census—the number of persons actively engaged in the City during
the daytime—has been taken on three occasions, viz., in 1866, 1881, and
1891. It is a matter for regret that no Day enumeration was made in the
City during the last Imperial Census year.
